Buddhist Concepts
A growing glossary of foundational ideas, starting with three of the most frequently referenced. Pāli terms are kept rather than flattened into a single English word — see each page for why.
Concept
Dukkha
Often translated "suffering," but broader in meaning: a pervasive unsatisfactoriness present even in pleasant experience, because nothing conditioned lasts.
ConceptAnicca
Impermanence — the teaching that all conditioned phenomena are in constant change, without exception.
ConceptNibbāna
The cessation of suffering and its causes — the traditional goal of the Buddhist path, described in early texts primarily by what it is free from.
